Abstract

Currently, new technological devices and uses of cyberspace shape children’s lives at anytime, anywhere in the world, offering multiple opportunities for their development and well-being. However, the risks associated with access and use of these means can also be diverse and that can lead them to contact with the justice system, whether in the capacity of victim, witness, or author of online offenses and crimes. In this article, from the debate on what it is like to be a child in digital society, two challenges that justice faces are reflected on – crimes in the metaverse and technosolutionism –, identifying relevant questions about the exercise and nature of social control in the present.
